SNOWKITEN IN ALP D’HUEZ
Perhaps the most famous mountain among Dutch people. But this time it’s not about cycling or Tomorrowland;)
The reason we go there is to go snowkiting, by using the kite to get up instead of the lift. You can cruise through the mountains in no time. It may sound extreme, but it is more accessible as you may think. For the last 2 years we have been organizing snow kite trips to Alp D’huez in France with KiteActive.
Why go to alpe dhuez
It is a beautiful area with opportunities for everyone. The slopes around the village are green and accessible. The higher you go the slopes become more difficult and you will find more challenging terrain. There is also plenty of variety with 250 kilometers of slopes, so you can get on a new slope every day. And to top it off you will find the longest black slope in the world called “Sarenne”. The slope is approximately sixteen kilometers long and has a total height difference of 1,800 meters!

Snowkiting at Alpe D’huez
It is a famous mountain for snowkiting. At an altitude of 2800 meters there is an open area where you can train perfectly. Another important reason why Alpe D’huez is becoming more popular among snowkiters is because there is a stable wind almost every day.
It may seem extreme but that is not so bad. If you like kiting and you feel comfortable on a red slope then you are snowkiting back and forth within a day. For the beginner’s there is an instructor ready to teach you the basics of steering the kite. If you dare to try it, check the Kiteactive website. The snowkite trip is from 21 to 28 March, fun is guaranteed!
Off piste
There is also a lot of terrain for off-piste fanatics and it is easily accessible. But beware because of the altitude it can also quickly become dangerous. Make sure you have the right knowledge or go out with a local guide.
