REFRESH FRIDAY: MARCEL HIRSCHER
Marcel Hirscher (born 2 March 1989) is an Austrian former World Cup alpine ski racer. Hirscher’s rivals consider him to be the best alpine skier in history and not without reason. His statistics are mind blowing: 138 podiums, 67 wins, 6 slalom titles, 6 giant slalom titles and an unprecedented 8 consecutive overall titles, undoubtedly making him a contender for best ever.
One of Hirscher’s most notable seasons has to be the 2017/2018 season, where he suffered a fracture to his left ankle during the first day of snow training on 17 August, 2,5 months prior to the season start. But even that could not stop Hirscher, after a speedy recovery he still ended up winning the 2017/2018 season proving his dominance once again.
Unfortunately on 4 September 2019, Marcel Hirscher announced his retirement from alpine skiing.
