SKI AREA IN THE SPOTLIGHT: HEMSEDAL NORWAY
My first trip of this season was to Hemsedal Norway. With Snowplanners we are working together with great partners VisitNorway and Skistar. So for me, as owner of Snowplanners a great opportunity to combine business and pleasure on this great trip. The plan was to see many suitable accommodations for our future guests and to see all the USP’s of the Ski Area Hemsedal.
Massive powder in Hemsedal
A couple years ago I went snowboarding in Voss and Myrkdalen and what really stuck me was the amazing quality of powder, the fresh air and all the space in the world. No mass crowds at the lifts like you see in some very popular ski area’s in Austria. So I was very stoked and enthusiastic to visit Hemsedal and to see all the great opportunities this ski area has to offer.
Our accommodation in Hemsedal was the Skistar Lodge Hemsedal Alpin, we had a very comfortable plase and right at the bottom of the slopes. We had a nice and great suite and all the necessary facilities where situated in the building like restaurants, ski rental and the lockerroom.
HEMSEDAL SKI AREA
The Hemsedal ski area extends from 620 to 1,450 metres above sea level and the winter season lasts until early May. Hemsedal is situated in the North of Vang and Vestre Slidre, it is the second largest ski area of Norway after Trysil. Hemsedal offers adventurous skiing from three different peaks. The longest slope is 6 km from the top to the bottom of the ski system. There are ski slopes of all difficulty levels, and freeride skiing in the forest or on untouched mountainsides, just a stone’s throw from the slopes. Facilities nearby: meet-up location for ski school, toilets, restaurant, playground, heated cabin, BBQ, SkiStarShop, grocery store.
amazing view on top Hemsedal
Hemsedal ski area has a fun slope with jumps, bumps and berms. The Fun slope is fun and challenging for skiers of all levels, from small children to experienced skiers. A little higher up in the ski area you’ll find the larger parks, SnowPark Red and SnowPark Blue. Here you’ll find jumps, rails and boxes. Hemsedal also has a skicross track and a slalom course with timekeeping.
Ski Area Hemsedal is perfect for freeriding, skitouring and backcountry skiing. There are many possibilities for amazing runs. Our Snowplanner Victor was Freeriding in Hemsedal two seasons ago and made a great video about his journey.
